FORTUNEate and unFORTUNEate Person of the Day

FORTUNEate Person of the Day

In MELBOURNE, Australia, a doctor used a household drill to bore a hole into the skull of a boy with a severe head injury, which ended up saving his life.

Nicholas Rossi fell off his bike on Friday in the small Victoria state city of Maryborough, hitting his head on the pavement. By the time Rossi got to the hospital, he was slipping in and out of consciousness.

Dr. Rob Carson recognized that Nicholas was experiencing fatal bleeding on the brain and knew that he had only minutes to drill a hole through the boy's skull to relieve the pressure.

UnFORTUNEately, the small hospital was not equipped with neurological drills. Dr. Carson was forced to use a household drill from the maintenance room.

Dr. Carson called a Melbourne neurosurgeon for help, and the specialist talked Carson through the removing the blood clot from Nicholas' head.

Dr. Carson had this to say- "It is not a personal achievement, it is just a part of the job and I had a very good team of people helping me," he told the newspaper.

Nicholas Rossi is Fortune Infinite's FORTUNEate Person of the Day.

unFORTUNEate Person of the Day

Hip-Hop Artist Roderick Anthony Burton II, known as "Dolla" was shot and killed while waiting in the valet area of the Beverly Center mall in Los Angeles, California on Monday, May 18, 2009. According to the Los Angeles Times, the up-and-coming rapper, who signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik label in 2007, had flown to Los Angeles on Monday morning to continue working on his solo debut album, "A Dolla And A Dream," which had been slated for a summer release. Apparently, Dolla got into an altercation with the shooter at the LAX, which carried on to the Beverly Center Mall, where Dolla was shot once in the head. Dolla was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Police have a suspect in custody at this time.

The Hip-Hop game has lost yet another talented black artist. When will the bullshit stop? Can anyone make it without someone else that can't make it on their own preying on them? Fortune Infinite would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Dolla's family and friends, and everyone at Jive and Konvict Music. Rest in Peace Dolla (November 25, 1987 – May 18, 2009). We didn't know you but we understand your struggle.
